Alicante, Spain
Alicante is one of the most well-known towns on the Costa Blanca. Situated between the mountains and the sea on Spain's coast, it owes its name to the white-sand beaches that stretch for miles. Cathedral de San Nicolas
This cathedral's chapel is considered to be one of the finest examples of Spanish Baroque, and with St. Nicolas the patron saint of the city, the cathedral is one of the most important buildings in the city.
La Alcudia Archaeological Site
A working archaeological dig at a site occupied since the Stone Age. Archaeological students from Alicante University work the site in July and September.
Castillo de Santa Barbara
This castle is one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe, jutting over the summit of the Benacantil Mountain, it commands a panoramic view of the Costa Blanca.
